Hello!
I’m Alice.
I am deeply passionate about two things: Bringing a story to life and bringing out the best in people.
I’m grateful that I get the chance to do both in my work.
My career has taken many twists and turns.
At Harvard, I did psychology research, counseled in the community, and got a Masters in Education. A Luce Foundation Fellowship brought me to Southeast Asia for more counseling experience and the chance to learn storytelling in film, which I continued back in the US.
For years, I produced PBS broadcast films, and then leapt into the world of mission-driven business at Stonyfield Organic, followed by City Year, an international education non-profit.
I’m seasoned in the art of reinvention, as I have traveled two successful - and different - career paths over the last few decades, starting as an Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker and transitioning to a creative communications and marketing executive. I know what it takes to make personal and professional change, and am highly motivated to help others navigate it.
I have experience guiding people through their professional development, and in nurturing others’ talents. Years leading teams have helped me become a compassionate straight-talker. And it led me to getting national certification in career development (NCDA).
I’m a close listener. My storytelling background has made me an intuitive thinker who sees right to the essence. Which means I’m uniquely positioned to unearth your stories and callings.
I’ve been on both sides of the coin. Maker and audience, coach and coached. I’ve had some of the finest mentors and been the recipient of first-class coaching. My career has been varied, more so than the usual life/work coach or creative consultant. Those who work with me know that my breadth of experience is my greatest superpower.
“Alice Markowitz is someone who makes magic happen.
She is incredibly creative, smart, and intuitive. She has a way of defining the big vision and clarifying the small steps forward, and that has helped me thrive in my professional and personal life.
Alice has a wonderful way of helping you problem solve. She's also one of the loveliest humans to work with I know, and I keep her number on speed dial.”
